Cleaning first, repair when needed

Drain cleaning and repair in Sun City, AZ

Trident Plumbing & Drain handles drain problems from minor blockages to damaged or collapsed drain lines. The aim is a lasting result rather than a quick fix: clear the obstruction, find out why it formed and address any damage if cleaning alone will not hold.

Our Peoria office schedules drain service. Tell the team which drains are affected, how long the problem has been developing and whether you have heard gurgling or noticed odors. If a fixture is backing up, stop using it until the line has been checked.

Clear indicators

Warning signs of a developing drain problem

Slow-draining sinks, gurgling toilets and unpleasant odors are more than minor inconveniences. They often begin with a buildup of grease, hair and soap scum that narrows the pipe and can progress to a complete blockage.

Left alone, a partial clog can lead to backups and water damage. Note whether one fixture or several are affected. A single slow sink often points to that drain, while several fixtures slowing together may point further down the line.

How the line is cleared

Snaking, hydro jetting and choosing a method

Professional snaking breaks up and removes many stubborn clogs. For heavier buildup, hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour accumulated sludge, grease and debris from inside the pipe, which can help slow the return of the same blockage.

The method depends on where the clog sits, what it is made of and the condition of the pipe. Hydro jetting is not chosen automatically; the line has to be suitable for it. Ask what was removed and whether anything suggested damage that cleaning cannot fix.

When cleaning is not enough

Camera inspection and drain line repair

Cracked or corroded pipes, and lines compromised by tree roots, can keep causing trouble after a cleaning. A camera inspection shows the location and nature of the damage inside the line, so repair decisions rest on what the pipe actually looks like.

Depending on the findings, the plan may be a spot repair of one section or a more extensive drain line replacement. Ask the technician to walk you through what the inspection showed and why the recommended repair fits it.

Proactive upkeep

Habits and check-ups that keep drains clear

Drain screens catch hair and debris, and keeping grease out of sink drains removes one common cause of buildup. These habits do not replace professional care, but they can slow how quickly a line narrows.

Periodic professional check-ups can catch minor issues before they become emergencies. If a drain has needed clearing more than once, share that history. Ask about the maintenance membership if you would like to plan ongoing care.

What EPCOR asks

Keeping grease and wipes out of the line

EPCOR's guidance on clogs and backups starts with fats, oils and grease. Poured down a drain, they cool and collect in your pipes and along the sewer system, and over time they often cause a backup into the house. EPCOR asks customers to collect oil and grease in a covered container for the garbage, scrape plates into the trash rather than the disposal and skip running hot water to wash grease away.

Wipes are the other common culprit. EPCOR warns that even products labeled disposable or flushable can clog drains, and says flushable wipes choke the pumps at its treatment facilities. On the public side, EPCOR describes an ongoing program of video inspections of sewer mains and manholes in the Sun Cities. That program covers the mains; when clogs keep returning in your home, the drain line under the house needs its own camera inspection.

Drain service costs

What decides the cost of drain work

Drain work is priced by where the problem sits and what it takes to clear or repair it. These are the main variables.

GreenSky® financing is available when a damaged line has to be repaired or replaced. Weekend visits are a regular part of our schedule at no additional fee, and preventative maintenance members save 10% on plumbing services.

  • One slow fixture or a main line backing up several drains.
  • Whether a cleanout is reachable or the line has to be entered through a fixture.
  • What the clog is made of: grease, wipes, scale or roots.
  • A camera inspection to confirm the cause and the pipe's condition.
  • The repair method, the depth of the line and any slab, yard or driveway in the way.

Drains and the sewer

What goes into Sun City drains

If EPCOR handles your sewer, its guidance on what drains can take applies to your home. Here is what it asks.

Keep fats, oils and grease out of drains
No grease

EPCOR says fats, oils and grease cool and collect in drains and pipes, and often cause a backup into the house. Scrape grease into the trash, not the disposal.

No wipes

EPCOR warns that wipes labeled disposable or flushable can clog drains. Paper towels and cotton swabs are on its do-not-flush list too.

They came out quickly, did camera work, and took the time to thoroughly track down the issue instead of rushing. Turns out we had roots breaking a pipe under our tub.

drain cleaning and repair in Sun City.

Questions about drain cleaning and repair in Sun City? Start here, or tell us what is happening at your home.

Ask our team
Why does my drain keep clogging after it is cleared?

Buildup further along the line, or damage such as cracks or root intrusion, can make clogs return. A camera inspection can show which is involved.

Is hydro jetting used on every clogged drain?

No. Snaking clears many clogs. Hydro jetting is considered for heavier buildup when the pipe is in suitable condition.

What does a camera inspection show?

It shows the inside of the drain line, including cracks, corrosion, root intrusion or a collapsed section, and where along the line the problem sits.

Can I prevent drain problems myself?

Drain screens and keeping grease out of sinks help. Report slow drains, gurgling or odors early rather than waiting for a backup.

Can I put grease down the garbage disposal?

EPCOR advises against it. Its guidance says to scrape excess grease from dishes into the trash rather than sending it through the disposal, and to collect cooking oil in a covered container for the garbage or a grease recycler.

Can flushable wipes go down the toilet?

EPCOR says no. It warns that even products labeled disposable or flushable can clog drains, and that flushable wipes choke the pumps at its wastewater facilities. Put them in the trash.
