Drinking water at the tap

Peoria reverse osmosis water filtration installation

Trident Plumbing & Drain installs reverse osmosis water filtration systems for homes in Peoria, Glendale, Litchfield Park and surrounding Greater Phoenix communities. Our team can help you consider a dedicated drinking-water system as part of your home’s water treatment.

Start by describing what you want to improve and any equipment you already use. A reverse osmosis system serves a different purpose from a whole-home softener or a carbon filter. Understanding those differences helps you choose the right approach for the water you drink and use for cooking.

The process

What is reverse osmosis?

A closer look at an under-sink drinking-water system.

Reverse osmosis uses pressure to move water through a semi-permeable membrane. A point-of-use system commonly serves a dedicated fixture at the kitchen sink. It produces treated water and a separate reject-water stream.

The complete system and its specifications determine what it is designed to reduce. When a particular substance is the concern, review the selected model’s tested or certified performance rather than assume that every RO system provides the same result.

Daily use

A drinking-water system at the sink can be a convenient alternative to bringing in bottled or delivered water. The original Trident service focuses on helping homeowners improve the taste of their drinking water and choose a system for their home.

During the selection discussion, consider how you use drinking water through the day, where the system would be installed and the practical requirements of the model. We can also discuss the existing treatment equipment so a new installation fits the wider setup.

  • The water concern and any test information you already have.
  • Your household’s drinking-water and cooking routines.
  • The proposed installation location and existing connections.
  • Filter and membrane replacement requirements.

How RO can work alongside a softener

Trident’s reverse osmosis service includes helping homeowners consider RO alongside water softening. A whole-home softener addresses hardness minerals; point-of-use RO treats water supplied to its connected drinking-water fixture.

If you already have a softener, let us know its model and condition. If scale is the main problem you want to solve, begin with that concern rather than choosing a drinking-water filter alone. Our team can discuss the roles of both systems.

Plan beyond installation

Filters, membranes and water use

An RO system needs maintenance even though it is used through a simple drinking-water tap. Follow the manufacturer’s directions for filter and membrane replacement. Keep the model information and service history available when arranging care.

Water use also belongs in the product comparison because RO creates a reject-water stream. EPA’s WaterSense program evaluates eligible point-of-use models for water efficiency and performance. Ask about the specifications of the equipment being considered; a certification should never be assumed from the type of system alone.

Ask our team
Does a reverse osmosis system treat every tap in my home?

A point-of-use RO system treats water supplied to its connected fixture, commonly a dedicated kitchen drinking-water tap. Whole-home treatment is a separate installation decision.

Will every RO system remove the same contaminants?

No. The particular model and its tested reductions matter. Match the equipment’s performance information to your water concern instead of relying on a broad list of possible contaminants.

Can I use reverse osmosis with a water softener?

Yes, the two can be considered together because they serve different purposes. Trident can discuss the existing equipment and the proposed setup for your household.

Does reverse osmosis need filter replacement?

Yes. Follow the selected system’s instructions for filters, membranes and other service requirements. Share the model and service history when asking about maintenance.
